ROCKFORD, Ill. – 22-year-old Christian Soto was arraigned in Winnebago County, Illinois on Thursday, on 12 felony counts after prosecutors say he went on a killing spree.
Soto’s attacks allegedly happened at multiple locations in and around Rockford, that included knife and bat attacks, home invasions and using his truck to run victims over on Wednesday.
The youngest murder victim, FOX News reports, was a 15-year-old girl.
“The suspect is now in the hands of the court system and we expect he will be held responsible to the fullest extent of the law,” Rockford Mayor Tom McNamara said Thursday.
Soto told police the rampage began after he smoked what he thought was narcotics-laced marijuana. He’s being held without bond.
ROCKFORD, Ill. – Four people are dead and at least seven more are injured after a man went on a stabbing spree Wednesday afternoon in Rockford, Illinois.
Rockford Police said the first call for help came in at 1:14 p.m. Wednesday. The attacks happened at multiple locations in the northern Illinois community.
The people who died in the attacks included a 15-year-old girl, a 22-year-old man, and a 49-year-old letter carrier with the United States Postal Service who’d been on the job for 25 years.
The postal worker’s life came to a tragic end when he was run over and then stabbed, FOX News said.
The fourth fatal stabbing victim was reportedly a 63-year-old woman.
Five other residents were taken to a hospital where they’re being treated for serious injuries.
A 22-year-old man was taken into custody near one of the crime scenes. A motive is unknown at this time.
The suspect in custody has been identified as Christian Soto. He’s expected to be in court Thursday on multiple felony charges.
