PEORIA, Ill. – Two pets were killed in a South Peoria house fire Saturday afternoon.
Four people were displaced by the blaze that was reported around 4:07 p.m. at 1823 S. Arago St. The Red Cross was called to assist the residents.
One cat and one dog were deceased, while 12 other pets, 11 cats and one dog, were rescued and turned over to PCAPS at the scene.
No injuries reported to residents or firefighters.
First crews arriving at the scene found heavy smoke and flames coming from the first floor of the 1 ½ story house. The fire was under control within 10 minutes.There was smoke damage throughout the residence.
A fire investigator determined the fire started in a bedroom and was accidental.
