WOODFORD COUNTY, Ill. – On Monday night, the Woodford County Sheriff’s Office received multiple calls of a car going off I-74 and into a lake.
Sheriff Matthew Smith said an eastbound vehicle on I-74 at mile marker 111 went off the road and into the water.
Witnesses said the vehicle had crossed the median and opposite lanes of traffic before going into the water.
A 20-year-old male driver was removed from the vehicle. He had life-threatening injuries and was Life Flighted to a local hospital.
I-74 was blocked for several minutes while Life Flight was on-scene.
There is no update on the driver’s condition. The crash remains under investigation by the Woodford County Sheriff’s Office.
